Exploration of Integrated Innovation of IT-based Education 2.0
Ding Xin, Vice President and Secretary General of China Association for Educational Technology
The speech of Ding Xin, Vice President and Secretary General of China Association for Educational Technology was a prelude to the seminar.
According to him, the goal of the development of IT-based education 2.0 is “three complete, two high, and one big”. The key is the big platform, which is a data platform integrating national platform, local platform, corporate platform, data sharing, and interconnection. Only on such big platform can it be possible to interconnect schools, let capable teachers excel and enable students to make their own choices.
Information Technology Promotes the Classroom Revolution
Zhu Jingxi, Master’s Supervisor of Beijing Normal University
Using enlightening teaching cases, Zhu Jingxi, Master’s Supervisor of Beijing Normal University, made a specific presentation about the progress and features of information technology’s promotion of classroom teaching revolution, which lasted from the symbol class supported by “three ones”-- one mouth, one book, and one pen, in the 1990s, to the cognitive class supported by multi-media in 2000, and to today’s interactive class supported by interactive media.
He said that the interactive class can help us use class preparation and teaching software and interactive big screen to better organize and encourage students to express their views and let them judge, supplement, criticize, question, improve, and conduct meaningful exchange and interaction centering on different views.
“It has become an irresistible trend to create the original world of education with technologies. Multi-media teaching materials enliven our teaching and support students’ diverse ways of learning so that students with different levels, different styles, and different demands can participate in the diverse ways of learning and become more energetic. Energetic students can truly bring us the living class. With the popularization of such class, we can finally realize the human-oriented world of education for students.” Professor Zhu Jingxi delineated a beautiful blueprint for entering the human-oriented world of education by means of information technology.
How to Develop Normal University Students’ Thinking of Fusing Information Technology and Subjects
Gu Xiaoqing, Professor of East China Normal University
In addition to first-line teachers, a large number of normal university students competed in the seewo Famous Teacher Award. For this, Gu Xiaoqing, a professor of East China Normal University, addressed under the title of “How to Develop Normal University Students’ Thinking of Fusing Information and Subjects”.
Professor Gu Xiaoqing said, “As future teachers, normal university students should possess the teaching capability that are anticipated from them. In addition to the specific subjects that are taught and the relevant teaching capability, they should also have the capability to master information technology in the subjects they teach.”
Centering on the TPACK framework, Professor Gu defined and summarized the dimension of normal university students’ capability and quality, showing the path for their growth.
Information Technology Widens the New Path for the Fusion of Subjects
Lu Bingkang, Vice Principal of Wuzhen Zhicai Elementary School, Tongxiang City, Zhejiang
Lu Bingkang, as the Vice Principal of Wuzhen Zhicai Elementary School, a pilot school of future class cultivation of Zhejiang Province, gave a panoramic presentation on the exploration of innovation for the fusion of subjects by referring to his school’s exploration and practice in information technology application.
Lu Bingkang said, “In the traditional condition, resources were presented. In the era of information technology application, we should remold teachers’ capability of information-based teaching design, emphasize the priority of learning activity design over the curriculum design during the lesson preparation and remove the complex and inflexible things from teachers’ routine, for example, electronic and writing teaching plans, to let lesson preparation happen in the classroom.”
“Does the traditional curriculum still suit contemporary students?” Lu Bingkang asked. With this question and consideration, Zhicai Elementary School has made some attempts based on the development of Internet courses, which include the online Chinese course in collaboration with seewo Academy, book recommendation course in collaboration with students’ parents, and the long-term teaching design course that has won the second prize of Zhejiang Institute of Education Sciences.
“Teachers’ teaching design is the mainstream in the advancement of information technology application because we believe the technology is limited but our teaching design and creativity are limitless,” said Lu Bingkang.
Use Small Applications and Small Data to Facilitate Integrated Innovation
Huang Bolin, Product Director of seewo Educational Affair Department
Huang Bolin, Product Director of seewo Educational Affair Department, gave a detailed introduction of seewo’s efforts to use the whiteboard to facilitate the innovation in the fusion of subjects in combination with complete and detailed user cases and product concepts.
He said, “We have been trying to increase the efficiency of data and information sharing between teachers and students. Actually, it is a taboo in tool product development to make mere products without considering people. We firmly believe that making the best tools is to empower teachers. We also believe in developing teaching products from the perspective of teachers and assessing tools from the perspective of teaching. The purpose of teaching is not to teach. Besides teaching students knowledge, teaching is also to arouse students’ interest and sentiment and allow them to grasp the way of learning. In this aspect, what technologies and tools can do is to become its booster.”
